The following tests require version 1.421.50 or newer. On versions prior to
1.423.3, you must have the Index
pulses enabled.
Upgrades to the Techno CNC Interface can be found at http://support.technocnc.com/
We suggest uprgading to a new folder while preserving settings using these
instructions: New Folder Upgrade procedure
To test for mechanical drift issues that interfere with machine positioning:
If the Index
pulses are turned on in the software, this process is done automatically
every time the system homes in 1.422.1 and higher. So homing the machine,
running a file and then re-homing the machine will provide a warning if the
machine is suffering from this issue.
Alternately, to force a manual test:
- Prior to running a file, in the main interface, type on the keyboard:
'H' for home
'D' for Drift test
'?' where ? is the axis you suspect of drift (Y,X,Z,A). You should
repeat this process for all axes.
- Run a file that will result in the problem. If you choose to run
in the air, note that this results in reduced forces on the machine,
possibly reducing the probability that the problem will occur.
- After the file has run, repeat the original procedure, where in the main
interface, type on the keyboard:
'H' for home
'D' for Drift test
'?' where ? is the axis you suspect of drift (Y,X,Z,A). You should
repeat this process for all axes.
- You will, after each axis, be presented with a message that states
whether or not the system checks out properly.
If you get a message that an axis drifted, follow the link for Axis
drifted to investigate the mechanics further.
